Incubators of ideas for social enterprises
Just as it takes a community to raise a child, you also need a community of peers and advisers to launch a new business idea. That’s about the idea that lies at the heart of the UK based in Bethnal Green Ventures, a new school for people who want to use the web and mobile tools to create social change.
Bethnal Green Ventures, Nightschool aims to further assist in initial stages, to ideas and socially oriented web projects, bringing them together with all people, advice and support they need to launch and grow a business idea. The 10-week program will meet every Monday night in London to help social projects answer the question: “What should I do?
“Responses may include the coding of the product or service in construction, for example, or focus on future sustainability of the project itself, however, the goal is to help the project reach the next phase in its development.
The application deadline to participate in Bethnal Green Ventures, Nightschool is 1 September. In early 2011, for its part, Bethnal Green will also launch a program Ventures, through which three teams carefully selected to compete will receive a small stipend, workspace and community support for three months to help build , test and launch their new businesses.
At a time when the incubators are growing in number, according to BusinessWeek, it will be an idea to watch.
